Ultralight Fly Reel Reviews

On the market for a new ultralight fly reel?  Check out these two reviews of some of the leading ultralight fly reels being targeted at anglers today.  Orvis knows fly anglers, and White River is known for providing budget equipment for experienced fishermen.  Both reels come in at $119.99 which means that the Orvis is an incredible deal, while the White River is packed with more features than the $119 price tag leads on.

#1 - Orvis Battenkill Bar Stock Fly Reel (2wt)

Orvis listened to ultralight fly fishing enthusiasts and redesigned their Battenkill Bar Stock fly reel to help provide exactly what it is that we're looking for.  Now 20% lighter, the reel provides a much better balance to ultralight fly reels, regardless of the length.  6262 aircraft grade aluminum makes a durable casing, and protects the reel from bumps and scratches from rocks.  A Rulon offset disc drag keeps the fish moving where you want them to, and works incredibly efficiently.  The 2wt model is rated for a WF2F fly line, but can handle line weights from 1-3.  At $119.99 this is a great deal on a stream or ultralight fly rod.

#2 - White River Fly Shop Classic Fly Reel (2.2 ounce Ultralight)

The prototypes of the White River Fly Shop Class line Fly Reel were tested on the Green River in Wyoming.  The 2 1/2" ultralight fly reel is great for small, short rods in tight brush choked streams, or your favorite local farm pond.  A click and pawl drag helps provide extra pressure on the fish when you need it the most.  The 2.2 ounce ultralight reel is rated for 2-4wt line, and 100 waters of DT4 backing.

Both of these reels, along with quite a few more are available at Bass Pro Shops.
